Above is the photo of the kitchen last Sunday.  Below is what I walked into today.

I am pretty good at imagining how things will look.  And I knew that the kitchen would look a thousand times better than it did.  But holy COW!

As Al said, “it looks so good, your mom is going to want to move back.”

I can’t wait to see how the house will look with laminate flooring NEXT Sunday.

I’ve been working hard to transfer all my blog entries from my mac account to wordpress. Please to report that I am now up-to-date.  It’s been an obsession actually. Why?  Cuz it’s my personal diary.

And I have enjoyed reading some of my past entries. Conveniently I’ve forgotten about some of the more painful moments of the kitchen remodel.  Now we’re going through similar issues with our bathroom remodel.  So it’s like I’m reliving it – twice.

And to complete the full circle, tomorrow one of the kitchen cabinet guys is coming over to adjust a kitchen cabinet.  The one pictured.

Weirdly, our living room/dining area has always looked dark.  But looking at these photos, it seems our paint colors and the lack of a reflective white wall made our room darker.  Or it could be just a poor photo.  Nevertheless, the new space is – well… utterly cool.  We’re really happy with it.

Great Danish dining set was a great find

We moved some furniture in today.  Took a bit of arranging and rearranging to figure out that most of the furniture should be low – otherwise the rooms starts feeling small again.  Jim helped us and neither he nor Al were too happy about moving a heavy Eames shelving unit into the dining room and then back to where we had it before – in the spare bedroom.  Well, we had to see it in the dinning room to understand it didn’t work there.  Another angle in the photo gallery area.

Now I can splash all I want when I cook

Today we got the backsplash for the stove installed AND the door bell chimes.  Coco was having a field day – every time we tested the chimes – she thought someone was at the door and she barked.  Good Dog!

I went to bed a 11 p.m. – but Jim was still here, working on the skylight.  Tomorrow – the flooring guys come to repair the floor.  Here goes another 5 days without a kitchen.  It gets depressing – because now we’ve had a taste of what it’s like to use the new kitchen.  And now we have to wait again.  Chipotle – here we come.

The cabinet installer came today.  We got the upper cabinets and the drawer under the sink in.  But, he left the under cabinet lighting in a box.  The electrical lines were cut and the hole for the plug was missing.  So they are coming back on Tuesday.

The drawer under the sink is SWEET!  Check out more photos in the photo gallery.

We caught another great concert tonight – a blast from the past:  George Michael.  I saw him 17 years ago on the Faith tour.  Still sounds great.  The house    went crazy for this song.  You kind of forget that some of his songs were actually WHAM! songs and not his solo stuff. He had an amazing stage – it was a gigantic video screen.

We’ve made our first step in creating a skylight.  A hole in our ceiling and a hole in the roof.  Photo of the hole in the roof is on the right.
