Since Al and I have been together, we’ve always made Arancina, Italian for oranges, for Christmas Eve dinner. It is a Quattrocchi tradition that he and I have taken on. It’s really not too time consuming because we have deep fryer that fries these babies up in just a few minutes (5-7 at a time). This year, we cut it close. We started around noon and finished up by 1:15 p.m. NOTE: we already had cooked the rice and filling ahead of time.
This is really a 8-step process:
The last step of course is to enjoy the warm rice with the gooey cheese melted inside from the frying. Yum!
Not bad for a Chinese girl who grew up in Iowa!

Christmas morning unfortunately was only filled by two very excited girls this morning. The entire Sperrazzo gang was home in San Diego, nursing N1H1, pneumonia and the flu. Plus of course Cathy had her broken leg to deal with as well. With the help of modern technology, we skyp-ed them and hear about all the cool gifts, like the cell phone, electric guitar and guitar. Plus we were treated to a nice rendition of Stairway to Heaven by JP and Luke had a hearty strum for us.
PR & Joy had little more to get excited about. They hit it big on their scratch off they received in the “gag gift exchange.” PR was pretty pleased that he exchanged a digital scale for this winning ticket. Ally and Big Al weren’t so happy as they both had the gift at one time.
Happy for all that we have this year.
